Bethel Church

My best advice to anyone who is thinking of attending this church or who has just started to attending is to look somewhere else. There are better churches out there. I attended Bethel (Crown Point) for a little over three years (April 2017-June 2020). I wish I had stopped going sooner. There are some good people in the church which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. I think the leadership in the church lacks a real connection with many of the people who attend. I noticed this at first but it eventually became overwhelmingly clear by the time that I left. If your experience here has been a good one then I am happy for you, keep attending. Bottom line, save your time and money and find another local church, there are plenty to choose from.

My wife and I love this church. There is great bible-based teaching. The congregation is extremely friendly and welcoming. There are numerous opportunities to join small groups. Despite being a larger church, the pastors and staff are accessible. The worship music is excellent. I have lived in several states and gone to many churches. The worship music at Bethel is the best of any church I have been. That is huge for me to say given that I have attended some churches where I would intentionally show up late, just to avoid hearing the music. Ever since being at Bethel, I try to arrive early so I don't miss the music. Lately, due to covid, the church has been supplementing indoor services with online services. Throughout the week I periodically find myself streaming the worship music from prior sermons, just because I like the music so much.

My 3rd visit to Bethel this past weekend. What a great church! The emphasis on Jesus--who he is and what he has done for us--very powerful. Straight forward, Biblical and very relevant sermons for your life. Prayer and time with God are clearly priorities here. Great worship too-wish there was more of it! Looking forward to my next visit.

I attended the church for a few months after moving to the area. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked in! Pastor Steve’s sermons were always so moving! Unfortunately we were misled. We wanted to get our daughter dedicated and signed up for the ceremony. The week before the child parent classes another pastor had asked to meet with us. Long story short he asked us our story about our life and faith and at the end asked if we are married. We are not. He then went on about the seriousness of marriage and confirmed the church would not let us take part in the ceremony.. to make matters worse he suggested we just get married that week! He said “ it’s a legal transaction but a necessary one”. It rubbed us completely the wrong way. I then found out that although the church says no denominational it has strong Baptist roots which I am assuming why they would not allow this. Anyway it is not the church for us . They act all welcoming but then after this meeting we emailed them and crickets. I hate to put a bad review on a church but want to warn others that it is not as accepting as you think. In the mean time we are looking for other places to worship.

Some of the best preaching anywhere and on a weekly basis. That being said, as much as I love an awesome praise and worship band, the volume is loud enough to blow your ears out, and I use to be in a rock band. Its a big church so it's tough to connect with the Pastor, but he's a great guy it seems and if you want to be spiritually fed, it's the place to go!
